Our design process

From the initial sketch to the finished product.

At DILLING, we believe that good quality takes time. It starts with the design process in Denmark and ends when you hold the finished product in your hands. We believe that time is well spent – because you get clothing in the quality you deserve.

Today, you can follow the journey of our signature stripes through the production process and hear about the careful considerations behind each step along the way.

Designed in Denmark

All our clothing is designed at our headquarters in Denmark. Here, Sarah and the rest of the design team spend their days improving classics and developing new, timeless styles. Their choices of materials, colours, and quality are always guided by our commitment to people, the environment, and animal welfare.

Knitted in Denmark

Much of our clothing – including wool/silk with signature stripes – is knitted by our local partner just 10 minutes from our office.
We’ve worked closely with them for many years and share a deep passion for natural materials and high quality.

Treated in Denmark

Most of our garments are dyed or treated at our own dyehouse. The styles with signature stripes are, among other things, washed and dried here. At the dyehouse, we never use harmful chemicals or heavy metals, because you and the environment are at the centre of everything we do.

Cut in Lithuania

The fabric rolls that eventually become garments are cut at our own cutting facility. Often approx. 85% of the fabric is used to avoid waste.
The rest is either turned into wool patches, which are available on our website, or sent for recycling at a facility in Lithuania.

Sewn in Lithuania

Since 1998, our garments have been sewn at our own sewing factory. Skilled and experienced seamstresses – each with their own area of expertise – work here.
One sews on buttons, another handles the bias binding, and a third attaches the care labels.

As you can see, our garments go through many processes and experienced hands before they reach you.
We hope you’ll feel the passion behind each piece of clothing and care for your wool clothing so it can bring you joy for a long time.

Reducing our footprint

Over the years, we’ve erased all heavy metals and harmful chemicals and replaced them with a unique dyeing and enzyme treatment. It took time to develop and refine – and we’re still using it today.
