Men's lambswool clothing at DILLING includes knitwear and base layers made from lambswool: the first shearing of a young sheep, which produces wool that is finer and softer than subsequent shearings. Lambswool knitwear is distinctively soft against the skin compared to standard adult wool, which makes it a practical choice for garments worn directly against the body or next to the neck and wrists. DILLING men's lambswool range covers jumpers, cardigans, and base layer items in plain and textured lambswool constructions.
The men's lambswool range at DILLING includes crewneck and v-neck jumpers, cardigans, and base layer tops and bottoms in natural lambswool colourways.
Lambswool comes from the first shearing of a young sheep, typically at around seven months of age. At this age, the tip of each fibre has a natural taper that has not yet been cut, which gives lambswool a softer handle than subsequent shearings where the cut end of each fibre is blunt. This taper means that lambswool fibres lie flatter against the skin and cause less of the prickling sensation that coarser wool produces. Lambswool is also finer than the wool from the same animal at later shearings, which contributes to its softness. It is softer than standard adult wool but coarser than merino, which makes it practical for knitwear worn with a layer between it and the skin, such as a shirt or base layer, as well as for garments worn directly against the skin in simpler styles.
Lambswool jumpers and cardigans in the DILLING men's range are made for everyday wear as a mid layer over a shirt or base layer. Lambswool holds warmth without the heavy weight of heavier wool knitwear, making it a practical indoor and casual outdoor choice from autumn through spring. The natural warmth of lambswool means a jumper can function as a sufficient mid layer in mild outdoor conditions without requiring a jacket over it.
Lambswool base layer tops and bottoms in the men's range provide a softer-than-standard-wool first layer for cooler conditions. A lambswool base layer is suited to use under work or casual clothing in offices and indoor environments during colder months, providing a layer of warmth that functions without the need for a heavy jumper on top.
Men's lambswool garments should be washed on a wool cycle at 30°C and laid flat to dry. Do not tumble dry. Full care instructions are on each product label.
